Have you ever stood in your room, phone in hand, and thought, "Ugh, where do I take a decent photo?" Yup, same here. I wanted a corner that looked good in every shot — from selfies to outfit pics to product photos.

So, I created my own photo background wall at home, and it totally changed the game.

Pick the perfect spot

First things first: find a wall with good natural light. I picked the one next to my bedroom window. Morning light hits it just right — no harsh shadows, just that soft, glowing vibe we all love. If your lighting is tricky, you can also use a soft ring light (I use mine when it's gloomy out 🌥️).

Keep the base clean and neutral

I started with a plain white wall. If your wall is too dark or uneven, you can easily stick up a large neutral fabric, like beige or light grey linen. It works like a clean canvas. The goal is to make your subject pop — not fight with a messy background.

Add a little texture

Flat walls can feel flat in photos. 😅 So I added a bit of interest — a floating shelf with books and candles, a rattan basket on the side, and a small potted plant. Just enough to give depth, but not enough to distract. You want visual layers that look good both close-up and from a distance.

Include something personal

This part is my fave! 🫶 I hung up a print of one of my favorite quotes, and placed a vintage mirror leaning against the corner. These little touches make it feel you. Whether it's polaroids, dried flowers, or framed art, add something that brings joy and personality into your shots.

Change it up seasonally

Don't feel like your wall has to stay the same forever! I switch mine up every few months — a new vase in spring, fairy lights in winter, or a fresh stack of books. It keeps things fun and fresh. Your wall evolves with your mood, and that's what makes it feel alive! 🌿✨
