Beach days are already tons of fun, but adding some beach ball games can take family outings to a whole new level.
With just a simple inflatable beach ball, you can create endless entertainment for all ages!
1. Beach Ball Volleyball
Volleyball is a beach classic, but using a beach ball instead of a standard volleyball makes the game easier for all family members. Set up a makeshift net by drawing a line in the sand, and divide the family into two teams.
How to Play: Teams stand on opposite sides of the net. The objective is to hit the ball over the line and prevent it from touching the sand on your side. If the ball lands on your side, the other team gets a point. First team to reach 15 points wins!
2. Beach Ball Relay Race
Perfect for family members of all ages, a relay race with a beach ball adds a playful twist to the traditional race. Divide everyone into two teams, and set up a course on the sand. Players take turns moving the beach ball across the course without using their hands—by balancing it on their heads, knees, or even blowing it along.
How to Play: Each player must complete the course and pass the ball to the next team member. The first team to get all members across the finish line wins. It's a great way to get everyone laughing and moving!
3. Keep It Up Challenge
This game is as simple as it gets, but it's a fantastic way to engage family members of all ages. The goal is to keep the beach ball in the air without letting it touch the sand.
How to Play: Family members stand in a circle and work together to keep the beach ball in the air, passing it from one person to the next. Set a goal—such as keeping it up for 30 seconds, or achieving 20 passes without a drop—and see how long you can go. This game is simple but quickly becomes addictive as everyone tries to beat the previous record.
4. Beach Ball Bowling
With just a beach ball and a few objects to act as pins, you can set up a fun beach-side bowling game. Plastic cups, empty water bottles, or small sandcastles make for creative pins that everyone will enjoy knocking over.
How to Play: Arrange your pins in a triangle formation and let each player take turns rolling the beach ball toward the pins. Each player gets two rolls per turn, just like in real bowling. Tally up the scores, and the player with the most points wins!
5. Beach Ball Hot Potato
Hot Potato is a perfect game for large families, and using a beach ball instead of the usual object adds a summery vibe. In this game, you'll need some music—either from a Bluetooth speaker or someone singing in the background.
How to Play: Players sit or stand in a circle and pass the beach ball around while the music plays. When the music stops, the person holding the ball is out. The game continues until only one player is left. It's a great way to keep everyone entertained without requiring too much space.
6. Water Balloon Beach Ball Bump
For families with access to water balloons, this game combines the thrill of both water balloons and beach balls. Each team has to keep a water balloon afloat by bumping it with a beach ball, and the goal is to keep the balloon from hitting the ground.
How to Play: Divide into two teams. A player from one team taps the water balloon with their beach ball, passing it to a member of the other team. Teams take turns "bumping" the water balloon back and forth. If the water balloon hits the ground and breaks, the team that last touched it loses a point. This game is both challenging and refreshing on hot beach days!
With just a bit of creativity and one or two inflatable balls, you can turn an ordinary beach day into a cherished family tradition!
